Orphan children need host families this summer to help them find adoptive families.

Orphan children need families and individuals to host them this summer and help them find adoptive families. It is estimated 10 to 20 million children worldwide are growing up without permanent families to call their own. Many of these children will not finish high school. Rates of teen pregnancy in this population are significantly higher than the general population. One in five will spend time in jail, and one in ten will commit suicide. Most of these children are overlooked for adoption simply because they are over age 6. Older children in orphanages or foster families are hidden from view and, with a lack awareness in their local communities, they have little hope of finding an adoptive family. Kidsave works to change this. Kidsave’s Summer Miracles program is seeking families and individuals who are willing to open their homes to an orphaned child this summer - with the goal of helping that child find an adoptive family. The children age 10-14 are coming from Colombia, and are growing up in orphanages and foster families. All are available for adoption. Summer Miracles host Anne with her host child Valentina. Do you have room for one more? Terry Baugh, Kidsave President, explains that families don’t have to commit to adopt -- TIME is what these children need. “Hosting is a way to dramatically change a child’s life,” Terry explains. “When people meet these kids, they find adoptive families. Right now we need host families to give these children a chance. Adoption is not required - just a family willing to open their home from the first of July through the first week in August. This is a great opportunity for people who want to help a child or members of a church community to rally around. Many of us grew up in households where there tended to always be room for one more. That’s just the case with hosting. Families who open their homes will have an amazing summer experience. It’s a chance to meet some wonderful people who care about orphaned children and a chance to literally improve the trajectory of a child’s life."
