“Only 50 percent of our Catholic young people are getting married. We have a vocation crisis to lifelong, life-giving, loving, faithful marriage. If we take care of that one, we’ll have all the priests and nuns we need for the Church.” — Cardinal Timothy Dolan The real vocational scare is the declining rate of marriage among Catholics. More than 27 million Catholics are now single, making up 40 percent of the faithful. It’s clear to see that, if we understand the concerns facing single Catholics, we can have a direct impact on the marriage crisis. Actively addressing the particular needs of single Catholics is essential in the Church’s work to build a culture that values marriage and family life. Engaging singles in the fullness of the Church will better equip them for the lifelong vocations they will one day enter into — be it religious life, consecrated single life or, for the majority, marriage. They will build healthier, holier marriages and have a richer understanding of family as domestic church. How Can You Help?
