An Easter Message from Fr. Dan
 In just a few days, we’ll celebrate the greatest feast of our faith, the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. What does this mean? It means that we, too, are sent to proclaim the mystery of Jesus as Lord. The Gospel of John says it best: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life” (Jn 3:16). The eternal life John speaks of is shown to us by Jesus’s death on the cross, then, ultimately, by his rising from the tomb.
While celebrating Christ’s resurrection in 2013, we have other things to celebrate. For example, we pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance for our new pope, Francis. Incidentally, while we Franciscans are delighted to have the pope choose the name of our founder, St. Francis of Assisi, all of Italy is likewise thrilled to have him take the name of their country’s patron saint.
