| | A St. Nicholas Day Message from Fr. Dan We celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas (270 – 343 A.D.) on December 6. Today's modern, commercial Santa Claus actually is based on this real person. Many legends deal with his protection of children, of the poor and of his concern for seafarers. As the bishop of Myra, in what is now southern Turkey, he dedicated his life to helping those in need and had a reputation for secret gift-giving. St. Nicholas' example to Christians is to look beyond seeking material goods. Rather, seek to honor God by caring for others. With your help, Franciscan Media will continue to help Christians grow closer to God--in that same spirit of St. Nicholas. We publish St. Anthony Messenger, books, and online digital resources of all kinds. All of these efforts are a partnership with you, our loyal benefactors. . Will you help us to spread the Good News? Would you consider donating $50, $75, $100 or more so that we may continue to evangelize in the spirit of St. Nicholas? Your tax-deductible donation in any amount touches thousands with the Good News every day. Use our secure online donation form or mail a donation, payable to the Franciscans, to Franciscan Media, 28 W. Liberty St., Cincinnati, OH 45202. If you prefer, you may phone in a credit-card donation for our evangelization ministries at (513) 241-5615, ext. 169 or in the U.S., 800-488-0488, ext. 169. Peace and every blessing, Fr.
