An Easter Message from Father Dan This Sunday, we'll celebrate the greatest feast of our faith: the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Again we'll ask ourselves: Why did he do it? Why did Jesus suffer the anguish of the passion and death on the cross, only to rise again? St. John tells us "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life" (Jn 3:16). So, according to John, the central answer to the question is God's love. According to author Scott Hahn, in his book Lenten Reflections from A Father Who Keeps His Promises, "Scripture testifies to how God has cared for his family throughout the ages, making a way for his children to live with him forever. The biblical record shows that God has kept each and every one of his promises he swore concerning our redemption at the cost of his only beloved Son." In the Second Reading on Easter Sunday, St. Paul tells what will be expected of those who hope for salvation: "If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory" (Col 3: 1-4). During this holy Easter season, will you share in our mission of spreading the Gospel?
