Created for a Purpose

Heavenly Father, you created each of us for a purpose, to accomplish something special that will fit into your plan. May we always be free to follow where you lead so that we can be guided and trained by you to fit in with the beautiful tapestry woven from the lives of all of us.

Blessed Daniel Brottier
(1876-1936)
Listen to Saint of the Day
Daniel spent most of his life in the trenches—one way or another.

Born in France in 1876, Daniel was ordained in 1899 and began a teaching career. That didn’t satisfy him long. He wanted to use his zeal for the gospel far beyond the classroom. He joined the missionary Congregation of the Holy Spirit, which sent him to Senegal, West Africa. After eight years there, his health was suffering. He was forced to return to France, where he helped raise funds for the construction of a new cathedral in Senegal.

At the outbreak of World War I Daniel became a volunteer chaplain and spent four years at the front. He did not shrink from his duties. Indeed, he risked his life time and again in ministering to the suffering and dying. It was miraculous that he did not suffer a single wound during his 52 months in the heart of battle.

After the war he was invited to help establish a project for orphaned and abandoned children in a Paris suburb. He spent the final 13 years of his life there. He died in 1936 and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Paris only 48 years later.

Lord Jesus, please release me from this pain and anguish, at being let down by my beloved. As a human being, I am disappointed and disheartened, but I also know that, whatever happens to me, is by your will and not by the will of others. You make things happen to me and I am sure, you have made it happen for me not to see my beloved. I accept this Lord as your wish for me and I know your plans for me are way ahead and better than my own desires. Lord, I surrender my emotions to you and ask you to change me, transform me so that I feel no pain or anguish. Show me your path, your way and help me understand your will. Lord Jesus, let me have no desires, feelings, emotions or any relationships that go against your plans for me. Thy will be done in every decision and every situation of my life. Let this event of being let down, not change me or make me bitter or negative. Please let me not be touched by any ill feelings or negative sentiments. Rather, make me a stronger person, lift me from this pain and agony and fill me with your love, fill me with the presence of the Holy Spirit so that I don\'t miss the person I care for, so deeply. Lift me out of this relationship if it is not blessed by you or approved by you. Lift me out of this relationship if he is not the one you have chosen for me. Lord, I have had several failures in life regarding my personal relationships. Every relationship has failed yet I know, you lead me and you have ordained these failures either to get me out of wrong relationship or as a way of penance for my wrong behavior. I accept every trial from you Lord, if it is your will and I seek your blessings of patience, endurance and tolerance. Give me the strength to accept all that you have in store for me and let me not be bitter. I thank you Lord for this gift of faith, which makes me come to you in every moment of despair. Love you Lord Jesus, I praise you Lord Jesus, I need you Lord Jesus, come into my life and make me whole, make me happy, lift me out of this despair and despondency

Please pray for Alex and Megan. Pray that his group issues are resolved without negative consequences; give him peace of mind and let this horrid test pass over him with him either conquering it or not have to take it all and not have to go back to prison or put on any corrective action. Please help Megan to give him the space he needs, and at the end of a week or two let him miss her and desire to be with her once again. Let this space heal all anxieties and revitalize their relationship. Please bless Alex and Megan\'s union and let them grow together, and help Alex to be more sensitive to Megan\'s needs, and help Megan to read him better. Help Megan to be able to go back to work without any issues. Lord please help Megan and Alex be joined in Holly Matrimony. Thank you for your prayers. May the Lord God bless you and keep you.
